Sumac Oil

Tufan Organik Sumac Oil, from the Medicinal Aromatic Plants and Their Oils range, is a natural food with roots in Gürün/Sivas.
Cold-Pressed Sumac Oil
Sumac Oil is obtained by grinding sumac berries in a stone mill and extracting their oil by cold pressing. It has a slightly tangy scent reminiscent of sumac and a dark color. Because of its intense character, it is used in the kitchen in small amounts, mostly uncooked and as the finishing touch to a dish.
At Tufan Organik, we offer sumac oil for those who want to try new flavors in the kitchen with aromatic oils. As it is a cold-pressed oil, it is better used drizzled over salads, meze and ready-to-serve dishes rather than for high-heat frying. We recommend storing it in a cool place away from light.
Serving Suggestions
- Mix it with olive oil and drizzle a few drops over shepherd's salad.
- Add it as a finishing touch on top of hummus or fire-roasted eggplant meze.
- Mix it with red pepper flakes and thyme to make a dip for warm bread.
