Sumac Sauce

Tufan Organik Sumac Sauce, part of the Pastes and Sauces group, is a natural food originating from Gürün/Sivas.
Sumac Sauce: A Sour Flavor Thickened in the Sun
Sumac sauce is a dark red sauce made from sumac berries gathered from nature and thickened in the sun. Its sourness is softer than lemon, fruity and slightly astringent. It is used to give a fluid sourness to salads, meze and meat dishes; even a few drops change the taste of a dish.
Tufan Organik also offers sumac as a liquid sauce to those accustomed to using it in powdered form. Thanks to its thick consistency, it is easy to drizzle over a plate in a thin line, and when whisked with olive oil it becomes a practical base for salad dressings. At tables that love sour flavors, it can easily be used in place of lemon.
Serving Suggestions
- Drizzle a few spoonfuls of sumac sauce over onion salad and shepherd's salad.
- Toss the onions served alongside grilled meats with sumac sauce and parsley.
- Add it together with olive oil to boiled chickpea or bean salads.
