Menengiç Berries (Terebinth)

Menengiç Berries (Terebinth)

Tufan Organik Menengiç Berries, part of the Nuts and Nut Products group, are a natural food originating from Gürün/Sivas.

Menengiç Berries: A Distinctive Member of the Pistachio Family

Menengiç is the small, round fruit of a wild tree from the pistachio family. With a hard shell and a somewhat oily interior, this fruit gives a resinous, slightly woody and aromatic flavor when roasted. Traditionally, it is roasted and eaten as a snack, or pounded and used to make menengiç coffee.

Tufan Organik offers menengiç berries, part of its nuts range, for those who want to try this traditional delicacy at home. When roasted in a pan over low heat, their aroma spreads at once. The roasted berries can be pounded in a mortar and boiled with milk to make a hot drink, or mixed with other nuts and added to a snack platter.

Serving Suggestions

  • Roast menengiç berries in a pan and add them to a snack platter.
  • Pound roasted menengiç in a mortar and boil with milk to make menengiç coffee.
  • Add a small amount of pounded menengiç to cookie or granola mixes.
