Bulgur for Pilaf: The Foundation of Fluffy Pilaf

Bulgur is a grain product made from wheat and one of the cornerstones of Anatolian cuisine. Bulgur for pilaf consists of grains suited to pilaf; when cooked, the grains do not stick together, swell as they absorb the water and leave a light nutty aroma. It is an essential ingredient for pilafs with tomato, with vegetables or plain.

Tufan Organik offers bulgur for pilaf in two options, fine and coarse: the fine one gives a softer, quicker-cooking pilaf, while the coarse one leaves a plump result with separate grains. When toasted in butter and steamed with hot water, it fills the kitchen with that familiar aroma and accompanies many dishes on the table.

Serving Suggestions

  • Make a classic bulgur pilaf with onion, pepper paste and tomatoes.
  • Cook coarse bulgur together with chickpeas and vermicelli to prepare a hearty pilaf.
  • Cook vegetables such as eggplant or zucchini in the same pot as the pilaf for a one-pot meal.
